How did what we now call “comic strip” come about, and how do we describe it? The aim of the permanent exhibitions, which span the history of the world and civilisations, is to answer these questions and to let you explore the comic strip in all its forms. Like other art disciplines, comic strip art is a mode of expression which manifests itself in many ways, through very different genres, styles and formats, for a variety of audiences.
EXPO The second floor of the Comics Art Museum brings the old Waucquez warehouse back to life. The brand-new setting, designed as a large furniture showroom, hosts an exhibition celebrating 77 years of publishing house Le Lombard, known for the legendary magazine Tintin. You will discover the origins, its mythology, its pioneers, its poster boys, its frontiersmen and mavericks. Room by room you will discover the extraordinary richness of a catalogue reinvented as society and the publishing world evolved. The exhibition offers a playful and inventive look, with never-before-seen documents, archives and beautiful originals hidden in fake furniture.
