STANDING GUIDES – The curator of the exhibition, who is also a silent film programmer at Cinematek, will be at the exhibition to tell you all the anecdotes, colour your visit and answer your questions.
Fernand Schirren (1920-2001), an extraordinary figure, was not only rhythm teacher for choreographers such as Maurice Béjart or Anna Teresa De Keersmaeker, but he also accompanied screenings of silent films right from the creation of the Film Museum in 1962. A manuscript, published by CINEMATEK for the first time, helps us understand how he became a master in the art of improvisation. An exhibition of archival documents, objects and films: a journey into the unique universe of this outstanding musician.
